The Simon Balle

Festival of Languages

Updated: Temporary site

On the xxxxxxxx the idea for a Festival of Languages hosted by Simon Balle School was launched. The "Langfest"  project is planned to take place in TBC.

The event is aimed at celebrating the cultures and languages spoken and learnt by Key Stage 3 and 4 students in our area. It is hoped that this will promote the status of language learning in our schools and develop into an annual feature in the schools’ calendars.

The festival will be held at Simon Balle School Mangrove Road, Hertford on tbc --------.

Students can present a poem, recitation, role play, sketch, interview or song, the only criterion being that it is not in English. The categories of the classes will depend on the range of entries received. Performances should last from five to eight minutes and may be recorded, so that the students can take away a souvenir of their day. Other cultural language events are being planned to take place during the day.

Medals, trophies and other prizes will be awarded for the various categories at the end of the day.
